Opportunity: Treasurer

Auto Italia is seeking an individual with a background in finance, accounting, cost management or other relevant financial expertise that would like to share their skills with a diverse board of trustees and support Auto Italia’s future ambitions.

As Treasurer, you will use your expertise to support the Board in overseeing the organisation’s financial health, and ensuring the organisation complies with its financial requirements as a registered charity, not-for-profit company limited by guarantee and Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. This includes:

  • Supporting the Director to compile and monitor the organisation’s cash flow, management accounts, and other financial monitoring and reporting documents, as required.
  • Advising the Board of Trustees on financial matters, including reporting and risk management and raising any material financial matters that merit attention at the quarterly board meeting.
  • Working closely with the Chair to monitor the organisation’s financial activity, ensuring proper financial records and procedures are maintained, advising on potential financial risk mitigation strategies where appropriate.
  • Supporting the Director and the organisation’s accountants with the submission of annual statutory financial statements to Companies House, the Charities Commission and Arts Council England, alongside supporting the delivery of the annual budget, trustees report, balance sheet and statement of financial activity, advising on their preparation as necessary.
  • Working with the Director to review the quarterly and annual submission of financial monitoring documents to the board and Arts Council England in line with our requirements as a National Portfolio Organisation.

NB: Auto Italia outsources statutory payroll / PAYE, VAT and Tax and MGETR filings. As such, the treasurer is only to support top level financial activity, reviewing and advising on the organisation’s financial reporting as necessary.

More broadly, as a Trustee of Auto Italia, your role will be to:

  • Support the organisation with your knowledge and experience.
  • Ensure effective governance and oversight of Auto Italia’s activities.
  • Attend quarterly Board meetings, reviewing key documents related to objectives, finances, NPO requirements and audiences, contributing as a questioning and critical friend in strategic discussions.
  • Deliver on strategic action points as agreed by the Board at each meeting.
  • Act as an advocate for the charity: actively seeking opportunities for Auto Italia to grow and develop.
  • Share your networks and creative thinking with the organisation, encouraging new relationships and ways of working, supporting the staff team and encouraging sustainable growth and new opportunities.
