The Volunteer Forum is a network of students and early-career creatives interested in developing their professional practice within contemporary art.
Volunteers are invited to support the delivery of our exhibitions and events, working alongside artists, curators, and technicians. Voluntary roles are offered during installation periods, providing practical, behind-the-scenes experience.
You’ll gain skills in:
- Preparing the gallery (painting walls, patching and sanding surfaces)
- Installing multimedia works (film, sculpture, photography, and archival materials)
- Supporting AV technicians (setting up projectors, sound systems, and tools)
- Handling artworks and applying exhibition vinyl
- Researching materials and helping with technical problem-solving
The Forum is designed as an entry point into professional practice. Alongside installation support, members are offered informal mentoring and peer learning opportunities shaped by their individual needs and interests.
This could include:
- Portfolio and project feedback
- CV and job application support
- Guidance on grant writing
Opportunities are shared with Forum members via email, and roles are allocated based on availability.
Whether you’re looking to build skills, meet peers, or explore what a career in the arts might look like, the Forum offers a supportive and flexible first step.
If you would like to get involved, we would love to hear from you. Contact rachel@autoitaliasoutheast.org or fill in our expression of interest form here
