Digital Design

Fashion stylist and zine maker Mia Maxwell teamed up with young people aged 14 to 25 from Tower Hamlets and Newham to create dynamic digital zines and posters.

Through a series of hands-on workshops, participants explored themes of identity, community, and protest, using these as inspiration to shape their own creative projects. Blending digital and traditional techniques, they combined tools like Canva and Adobe InDesign with hand-drawn illustrations, collages, and handwritten elements, producing unique and personal zines that reflected their perspectives and ideas.

3D Modelling

Creative computing artist Jazmin Morris collaborated with Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils from Eko Pathways, School 21, Plashet School, and Canary Wharf College in the London Boroughs of Tower Hamlets and Newham. In these workshops, students were guided in creating their own creatures and buildings using 3D modelling platforms Tinkercad and SculptGL. They were encouraged to explore fantasy concepts and immerse themselves in online worlds, integrating their creations into a shared digital landscape using the platform.

This pilot initiative marked the introduction of our work in Newham, while continuing our established engagement with young people in Tower Hamlets.

Creative Coding

New media artist Antonio Roberts collaborated with Year 9 pupils at St Paul’s Way Trust in the LB of Tower Hamlets, as part of our Young Artist Programme. In these sessions, pupils were encouraged to explore ideas of identity and conceptualism, which were used to inform the writing of algorithmic computer code to create screen-based performances.

Students learnt how to generate music and visuals using the live coding platforms Hydra and Estuary, and built 3-D paper models to present their coding sets, blending computer-generated art with everyday objects.
