Call for Proposals: Art/Work Association

Auto Italia, London UK, 2024. Photographer: Anne Tetzlaff.

Art/Work Association, hosted by Auto Italia, is excited to announce a call for proposals for its 2025 programme. We are looking for dynamic event ideas that critically engage with contemporary issues through a variety of formats, including artist talks, seminars and reading groups. This call is open to early-career artists, creatives and cultural workers.

Art/Work Association

A/WA is a peer forum of early-career artists and creative workers. Members of A/WA generate an ongoing programme of events, conceived as a platform for artist-led learning. These take place online or are hosted at Auto Italia.

The forum is free to join and becoming an A/WA member is easy – follow the link here to sign up.

We welcome a broad range of ideas and topics, which may include: intersectionality in art practice, cultural phenomena, pop culture and identity, political movements and queer culture.

Event Structure

  • Your event can take the form of a talk, workshop, seminar or reading group. For example, you may choose to host an ‘in conversation’ style talk with a guest speaker of your choice, or a reading group session based on essays or literary works of your choice.
  • A/WA events provide an opportunity to delve into a theme that resonates with your own work, to collaborate with a guest speaker of your choice, or to engage in meaningful dialogue with fellow practitioners who share your interests. Please note that the focus should be on exploring ideas rather than promoting your own artistic practice.
  • Chosen applicants will host their event for other A/WA members to attend. Auto Italia facilitates the events online via Zoom or at Auto Italia.
  • Events are 1 hour long, and a fee of £250 is paid per session to cover artist fees and materials.

You can visit the Art/Work Association website to view previous A/WA events.

How to Apply

We invite you to submit the following materials:

  • A proposal (maximum 500 words) outlining your event idea.
  • An accompanying biography or CV.

If you have an idea for an event, but would like some curatorial support or advice developing your idea, we’d be happy to help. The call for proposals will close on December 1st. To submit your proposal or for further information, please email us at info@artworkassociation.org
