Opportunity – Curator: Exhibitions

Auto Italia is seeking to recruit an inspirational curator for the Curator: Exhibitions role. The post holder will work closely with the Director and the Programme Manager to devise, produce and deliver an ambitious and distinctive programme of exhibitions and events at Auto Italia, and contribute towards the long-term strategic direction of the gallery and its artistic vision and mission.

The role is suitable for curators with demonstrable experience commissioning distinctive and ambitious contemporary art projects. This is a creative, practical and collaborative role focusing on exhibition making at Auto Italia’s gallery in London, and supporting touring projects with our growing network of national and international partners.

The Curator: Exhibitions leads relationships with commissioned artists within the exhibition programme and has responsibility for key areas of exhibition management including project management, budget management, fundraising, communications, and advocacy. This is a hands-on role that demands high levels of personal organisation, responsibility and commitment within a small and supportive organisation where flexibility and excellent team working skills are essential.

The Curator: Exhibitions will join Auto Italia at a pivotal moment in our history as we seek to make transformative next steps. Over the past fifteen years Auto Italia has developed a sector leadership role championing experimental approaches to artist-led institution building, providing vital infrastructure for artists and audiences to co-produce work investigating expanded ideas of collaboration, community, identity and belonging.

We are seeking to build on this history through a new ten year strategy which focuses on advancing our developing institutional voice through an evolving national and international partnership plan. The Curator: Exhibitions post is an outstanding opportunity to contribute to this vision, and achieve a step change in the early stages of a career within a highly ambitious young arts organisation committed to radical practices.

The Curator: Exhibitions role is eligible for a Skilled Worker Visa with the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) authority. Auto Italia encourages applications from international applicants and will support the application cost and first year health surcharge for successful candidates that do not currently have the right to live and work in the UK.
