Lying in bed at 6am in a premier inn with nothing to do, lying in bed thinking only of you

20th Oct. 2011

There’s a load of music and scores made to accompany, or represent transient non places and flat glassy complexes, from Brian Eno’s music for airports to Matt’s sound/visual collage in porn in outer space (see previous post)

this is what the soundtrack to my new life trapped in a mall sounds like

Pretty much any Phillip Glass would heighten the shopping experience, just like in Koyaniskatsi that film he did the score for, to people going up and down esculators all day. so what doesn’t sound good in a shopping malll are you bored yet?

Hey do you remember Michael Barrymore’s my kinda people that was a really good show. Music actually MADE in the mall - oh yeah - he’d just turn up in a shopping mall somewhere in england with a lovely art deco styled stage, glass tiles and all for people to sing and dance on - much better than the monstrous star trek themed stage in XFACTOR..the show itself was generally a lot better too (which I know isnt exactly saying much). The performers were better dressed - I imagine they had to dress themselves and there were some great panning shots of the mall interior and close-ups of Barrymore’s contorted, bemused looking face.

It’s spine neck and arse breaking stuff - Trapped in a mall for 10 hours a day lyk. A joyless experience?..

Not for some people, like the ones in Matt Reed’s video porn in outer space as featured in issue 01 of kuboaa
