The Trustees of Auto Italia are delighted to announce the launch of the organisation’s first benefit auction, organised in partnership with Paddle8.

Marking the launch of Auto Italia’s first permanent project space in London, this auction features contemporary art from 29 leading artists, including past directors, collaborators, and friends both old and new. All proceeds will directly fund Auto Italia’s programmes, which remain dedicated to championing emerging artistic talent.

We would like to extend an enormous thank you to the artists, galleries and individuals who have generously donated on this occasion: Andrew Bick, Juliette Bonneviot, Carlos/Ishikawa, Adam Chodzko, Kate Cooper, Matt Copson, CUSS, Danielle Dean, Jeremy Deller, Benedict Drew, Cécile B. Evans, Ruth Angel Edwards, Ed Fornieles, Future Gallery, Edward Gillman, April Greiman, Richard John Jones and Michael Oswell, Jonathan Ellis King, Lawrence Lek, Oliver Osborne, Lydia Ourahmane, Jaakko Pallasvuo, Eddie Peake, Hannah Perry, Heather Phillipson, Rachel Pimm, Pinar&Viola, Laure Prouvost, Seventeen Gallery, Karsten Schubert, Erica Scourti, Raqib Shaw, Hito Steyerl, Artie Vierkant, Wilkinson Gallery and those who wish to remain anonymous.

Working with emerging artists at the heart of London’s grassroots and independent art scene since 2007, Auto Italia’s commitment to producing challenging, creative and fiercely critical dialogues has kept the organisation at the forefront of contemporary artistic production. Their championing of the development of alternative models for collaborative practice and the production of new and experimental exhibition formats has enabled a huge community of emerging artists to self-organise and create autonomous artistic spaces. At the core of this project has been an investigation into how to use and present Auto Italia as an artist, an organisation, a collaboration, a community and a space – whilst utilising this flexible form to support a huge network of artists in an increasingly difficult economic environment.

With a shifting group of artists at its helm, Auto Italia has taken on many guises and achieved recognition through landmark projects such as Auto Italia LIVE, Meet Z and Immaterial Labour Isn’t Working; exploring making artwork through digital commissions, events, exhibitions and performances. Throughout its growth Auto Italia has produced increasingly ambitious work and dynamic collaborative programmes with partners that include Hessel Museum New York, Institute of Contemporary Arts London, KW Institute for Contemporary Art Berlin and Tate Modern amongst many others.

We are delighted that after years of working from temporary and donated spaces the organisation has secured its first long-term base in the heart of the East End, in partnership with Acme Studios. We look forward to what this next phase will bring as the organisation continues to support collaborative practice, working with exciting practitioners from the UK and internationally.

We hope that there are pieces in the auction that you are excited to bid on – please do support, share and promote through your networks, helping us to grow the essential work that Auto Italia does.

The auction will be live for bidding from 20th July to 3rd August 2016 on Paddle8.com. Register to bid online, or via the Paddle8 iPhone app, available to download for free in the iTunes store.
